Meet Matthew Schaefer
A recent transplant to Los Angeles, Matthew popped into the studio and we were quite taken with his talent as a musician and artist.
A true singer/songwriter at heart, his complex arrangements and depth of interpretation make for a treat of a CD that we’ve been enjoying here at the studio over and over again. Learn more about him below, and if you are in the Los Angeles area, be sure to keep track of his performances on his site!
We like him so much, we’re thrilled to be able to offer independent artists the chance to work with him to develop their own original material at our studios. Find out more here!

Matthew Schaefer is a singer/songwriter and graduate of Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music. His first self-titled studio album was released in November of 2008 on iTunes and was met with widespread critical acclaim. He is currently in the studio recording his EP “things that fly (but mostly walk)”, a short compilation of songs citing the dichotomy between our human potential and “our simple crime, our biological design.”
Utilizing classical and electronic instruments and compositional techniques Matthew finds ways to create and break his own rules, and it’s with this philosophy that he engages the creative process.
Matthew has attracted large audiences in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and various other cities across the country. Some of Matthew Schaefer’s songs have been featured on national CBS commercial spots throughout 2008/2009. Currently he considers Los Angeles home.
Matthew is perfoming locally and beginning his ‘Dirty Laundry Tour’ which will take place at various laundromats throughout the Los Angeles metro area. Keep an eye out for him at matthewschaefermusic.com for updates on upcoming concerts and performances.

Matt’s “biological design” is a true gift & I am so pleased that he has decided to share it with the word!
