David Gilmore
You probably haven’t seen his face before. You most certainly have seen his faces. Perez Hilton, After Elton, TMZ.com: to name a few.
David’s celebrity illustration work over the last few years has been posted on the top blogs: Huffington Post, TMZ.com, Oh La La Mag, Perez Hilton, Dlisted, Pink Is The New Blog, Towleroad,What Would Tyler Durden Do?, Kenneth In The 212, Outsports, After Elton, Pop Sugar, Celebitchy, City Rag, Gawker, Defamer, Socialite Life, Egotastic, Fleshbot, Queer Click (that’s a naughty but good one), and on and on and on. Not to mention the magazine publications…
He says the muse for his most acclaimed celebrity works is his “life-long fascination with how so many people want to emulate celebrities: the way the dress, their hairstyles, wanting to go where they eat, and even in some cases adopting their religious beliefs. LA is a perfect place to observe all this, especially people’s commitment to vanity, and my favorite— when the pursuit of glamor goes horribly wrong. That’s the best stuff for me. I take it all in and try to process it through my art. I’ve taken so many mental snapshots over the years that I have a never ending stream of creative inspiration to pull from.”
If you are in Los Angeles, you will be seeing David’s work all over town this fall, due to the donation of his incredible skills to the “Open Artists with Open Arms” event on November 11th, 2009, at the Avalon in Hollywood.
